Life is Like a Box of Cracker Jacks

Remember ripping into a box of Cracker Jacks searching for the prized toy hidden inside?  The caramel coated popcorn and peanuts were delicious, but as a kid the anticipation of finding my very own toy was by far the best part of my Cracker Jack experience.

I’d play with it 5 maybe 10 minutes then toss it aside to consume the sugary contents.  The much-anticipated toy lay forgotten…after all there were trees to climb, and ropes to jump, and time was a wasting.

The little trinket probably was worth less than 2 cents, but now some of those toys sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars!

Don’t you wish you could go back and once again lay hold of those items we so easily discarded as a child?  If we had only known…right…?

As adults, we do the same thing.

We are so busy getting things done that we fail to appreciate the moment.  Somehow our minds shift into auto-pilot and we go from one task to the other until we find ourselves at end of our day worn to a frazzle.

We should treat the events of our day like our morning coffee, or a good glass of wine…they should be savored.

Take time to enjoy the people you love…savor the moments and tuck them away so they can be taken out and enjoyed later.  In the end those moments we so easily take for granted will be worth more than all the gold in the world.

Life can be like a box of Cracker Jacks, so pay attention and cherish what you get.

    1. They are delicious…if you can get caramel coated popcorn it’ll be pretty much the same. However, there are peanuts in
      Crack Jack as well.

  2. I’m English, so I don’t know anything about Cracker Jacks, but I’m curious; are some of those trinkets literally worth thousands of dollars?

      1. $350,000 for one card – that is absolutely incredible!
