Photography Day 8: Natural World and Leading Lines

Exploring the outdoors, with camera in hand, is an opportunity to look for natural lines that lead our eyes to different parts of a frame. Envision the bend of a stream, or the curve of a petal: how can you use these lines in your composition?

I love the wisps of lavender within the composition of this Cosmos.

Cosmos were one of my Mom’s favorite flowers.  I remember her requesting  I put them to canvas with my paints and brushes.  I never took the time to do this for her and now that she’s gone it’s forever too late.  I had the best mom in the world who loved me more than life itself.  It saddens me to know I never painted them for her.

Nice photo! Is the Cosmos a climbing plant?

    1. No but it is rather tall and spindly like a wildflower. They look beautiful when there’s a bunch waving in the breeze. Thank you!

Your cosmos is so very beautiful. They do have great leading lines.
